School Meals
Creating Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Everyone
Lunch time at Old Stratford is a time of day where we encourage independence. Children will have a variety of healthy options to choose from. All meals are freshly made on site. Meals cost £2.00 per day.
A register will be taken at the start of the day asking the children whether they have brought in a packed lunch or whether they will be having a school lunch. This register will then go to the office where charges will be taken from the parents of children that have had a school dinner. Children in Early Years or Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) will not be charged as their meal is free. Payments will be made through Parent Mail. Parents will need an account that has a minimum of £10 credit in order for meals to be paid for promptly. This will need to be set up before your child has a school lunch.
The children will then be able to choose whether they would like a hot meal, jacket potato, salad or make themselves a sandwich with various fillings from the salad bar. The children will be encouraged to serve themselves and make their own sandwiches, there will be pre-made sandwiches for the younger children. A three week menu will be sent out to parents in order for you to help your child choose their preferences. Your child’s choices do not need to be ordered.
If your child has special dietary requirements, we do cater for specific allergies or dietary requirements (please see attached list for Food Standard Agency allergies catered for). However, these children will need to have their lunch ordered to ensure their needs are catered for in advance. Therefore parents of these children will need to highlight which meal their child has chosen on the menu attached and clearly identify the allergy the child has and hand the named copy into the school office for our records.
If you do not inform us of your child’s allergy by sending us a copy of the menu with your child's menu choices we cannot be held responsible for allergic reactions. Please make sure you update your child’s dietary requirements with the school office.
