Creating Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Everyone
At Old Stratford Primary we are proud to have pupil representatives that take part in Class and School Council meetings. These councils are in place so that pupils have a voice and are involved in decisions about the school that affect them. Through Class Council all pupils have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas and take part in discussions that involve all of their classmates in reaching a democratic solution. Wider issues that arise at Class Council are discussed further at School Council, thus ensuring that as many pupil voices as possible are heard.
Our School Council is represented by three children from each class, voted in by their peers during an election. Councillors are changed once in the middle of the academic year to give a greater number of children the chance to take part. The School Council meet with Mrs Holmes at least twice every half term and are also responsible for holding regular Class Council meetings.
Recently our School Council has:
- run a successful poster competition, encouraging everyone to put their rubbish in a bin
- done a litter pick around our local area
- decided upon 2 charities to raise money for during a ‘Pyjama Day’ (Cancer Research UK and Age UK)
- started to organise a talent show competition to take place in the spring term.
Look out for lots more news coming soon on our noticeboard!
